Fight for free speech at Indiana’s universities
College should be a place where students exchange their views freely and learn from those who have backgrounds or opinions different from their own.
Silencing speech and disagreement is not the answer. This keeps students from learning from each other and restricts the diversity of perspectives.
Purdue University has made strides to reestablish civil conversation and debate on college campuses, instructing their students on argument and free expression. Rather than shutting down unpopular ideas, students learn more from listening and rebutting when they disagree.
Indianans should support their constitutionally-guaranteed right to free speech on university campuses, like Purdue has done. Sign the petition to defend free speech at Indiana’s public universities.
